ACCU-TORQ      (magnetic particle clutch)
CLUTCH DESIGN SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE
Accu-Torq magnetic particle clutches consist of an inner, permanent magnet rotor assembly and an outer housing shell. There is an annular air gap between the two assemblies. A fine magnetic powder fills this air gap. The rotor's magnetic field acts on the powder which "links" the rotor to the outer housing. When the torque limit of the clutch is exceeded, the powder rolls on itself. This produces smooth, constant torque independent of slip speed.

Accu-Torq clutches have a unique magnetic circuit design using rare-earth magnets. This results in the highest torque possible in the smallest size. Torque is comparable to regular friction slip clutches.
Accu-Torq clutches are an inexpensive way to provide constant tension when processing wire or film. They produce smooth torque with long life under constant slip conditions. Clutch life is much greater than regular friction clutches. The magnetic particle design allows both lower and higher slip speeds than regular friction clutches. Torque is constant at any slip speed.

Their low rotational inertia and high torque make them ideal for rapid cycling applications. They are used for indexing or material feeding where the clutch will slip between cycles. Mounted to a gear or as a shaft coupling, they are used for tensioning or torque overload protection in a drive mechanism. Accu-Torq clutches have no backlash.
